Agartala, 4th August 2025: The Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM), Tripura (Mahavidyalaya Shiksha), has strongly condemned the “unlawful and shameful” behavior of a section of students and outsiders who created chaos inside the campus of Ramthakur College, Agartala, on August 1.
According to a press communiqué issued by Debashis Roy Chowdhury, General Secretary of ABRSM Tripura (Mahavidyalaya Shiksha), a group of students and external individuals forcefully entered the college premises on the pretext of submitting a deputation to the Principal-in-Charge, demanding admission for certain candidates whose names did not appear in the official merit list.
“They not only disrupted the academic atmosphere by shouting offensive slogans, but also resorted to physical aggression by kicking the Principal’s chamber door and verbally abusing the college staff and teachers. Such acts are deeply condemnable and strike at the dignity of educational institutions,” said Roy Chowdhury.
The organization also expressed concern over the alleged role of a particular teacher, who, while serving as the Convenor of the admission committee, reportedly tried to admit candidates bypassing the merit-based process. “Such immoral conduct from a teacher is equally deplorable and cannot be justified under any circumstances,” he added.
On August 2, a delegation from ABRSM Tripura visited the college and met with the Principal-in-Charge and faculty members to gather a first-hand account of the incident and to extend moral support.
Reaffirming the organization’s stand, Roy Chowdhury stated, “ABRSM remains steadfast in its commitment to uphold the dignity and security of teachers. We urge the competent authorities to initiate stringent measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents across college campuses in the state.”
