Agartala, 4th August 2025:  A high-speed car accident shook Rajnagar in Tripura’s Unakoti district on Monday around noon, with scenes resembling a dramatic film. The vehicle, bearing registration number TR05-4073 and reportedly belonging to NHIDCL, lost control while speeding through Rajnagar and crashed.

Inside the car were two individuals, including the driver and a passenger, both of whom sustained minor injuries. Fortunately, there were no fatalities. One of the injured was identified as 24-year-old Mintu Nath from Dainchhara, Kanchanpur, while the other was named Siddhartha Karmakar. Both were promptly taken to the Fatikroy Primary Health Centre for treatment.

The accident also damaged roadside electrical infrastructure, disrupting power in the area. A 133kV high-voltage line was briefly affected, causing temporary electricity outages. Local electricity officials responded swiftly to restore supply.

The car’s owner, Arijit Nath of Laljuri Joyshree in Kanchanpur, has not yet released an official statement. Initial assessments suggest the accident occurred due to excessive speed and loss of control on a curve.

Fatikroy police have launched an investigation into the incident. Local residents voiced concerns over the increasing number of speeding vehicles and inadequate traffic control measures in the area. They urged authorities to take stronger action on road safety to prevent future tragedies.
