ABRSM Tripura stresses teachers’ role in building a developed India

Agartala, 11th October 2026 : Emphasising the importance of teachers in shaping the nation’s future, the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM), Tripura (Mahavidyalaya Shiksha), held its Annual General Meeting 2026 at Nazrul Kalakhetra Auditorium on Sunday. The meeting focused on educational development, teachers’ welfare, Indian cultural values and the vision of building a developed India.

The programme opened with Saraswati Vandana and Pushpanjali, seeking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. The gathering brought together office-bearers, teachers and members to review the organisation’s performance during 2025-26 and discuss issues concerning the teaching community.

ABRSM Tripura Prant General Secretary Debasish Roy Chowdhury presented the annual report, highlighting the organisation’s activities and achievements over the past year. Treasurer Tapanjyoti Malakar placed the accounts statement, detailing the collection and utilisation of membership contributions. The financial report was accepted by the members.

Addressing the gathering, ABRSM National President Prof. Narayan Lal Gupta called for greater unity among teachers to fulfil their responsibilities towards society and the nation. Referring to the traditional Guru Parampara, he highlighted the organisation’s philosophy of placing national interest, education, teachers and society at the centre of its activities. He stated that ABRSM has a nationwide network of more than 15 lakh teachers.

Chief guest Nikhil Shankar Niwaskar, Prant Pracharak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Tripura Prant, spoke about the changing global and national landscape. He urged educators to recognise India’s inherent strengths and contribute towards establishing Bharat as Vishwaguru through its rich heritage, knowledge traditions and cultural values.

ABRSM Tripura President Tirtharam Reang, in his presidential address, outlined the organisation’s initiatives to protect teachers’ financial and service-related interests. He also thanked the state government for enhancing Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other benefits.

In the second session, Prof. Gupta discussed the vision of Viksit Bharat, the New Education Policy, the importance of duty and the preservation of Indian knowledge systems. He encouraged teachers to adopt artificial intelligence, strengthen research and interdisciplinary learning, and uphold unity in diversity. Roy Chowdhury presented a 27-point charter of demands highlighting the concerns and expectations of teachers.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mousham Bhattacharjee, Associate Professor of Ramthakur College, followed by the National Song.
