Agartala, 14th February 2025:   In a startling incident at the Tripureswareri Maa temple, a man named Anjan Sarkar was caught stealing money from visitors’ bags this afternoon. The temple, bustling with devotees for puja, became the scene of the crime when Sarkar was apprehended red-handed while stealing money from a wallet. The entire act was captured on the temple’s CCTV cameras.

Subsequent to his arrest, a mobile phone was recovered from Sarkar during a search. The police and TSR jawans, responsible for temple security, immediately intervened and questioned him. During interrogation, Sarkar admitted to stealing the mobile phone from Agartala while en route to Udaipur by train. He confessed to having successfully committed several thefts over the past few months by exploiting crowded situations at the temple.

Despite his repeated visits to Matabari driven by greed, Sarkar’s luck ran out today. The authorities seized approximately Rs 5 thousand in cash and a stolen mobile phone from him, subsequently handing him over to the police.
