Agartala, June 17, 2023: The Additional Session Judge of Dhalai District, has convicted and sentenced an accused person namely Santa Debbarma of School Para under Manu police station in connection with case number ST-(T-1)31 of 2021, arising out of Manu PS case number 32/2021, dated, 29/07/2021 under sections 448, 376, 302 IPC to suffer life imprisonment for the commission of offence punishable under section 302 IPC, imprisonment for 10 years punishable under section 376(1) IPC and 1 (one) month punishable under section 448 IPC.
All the sentences are to run consecutively i.e. one after the other. In the intervening night of 28/29-07-2021 accused Santa Debbarma (27) rapped a 28 years old victim lady in her house at Regrouping Colony, Nalthongcherra under Manu Police Station and also murdered her after committing rape.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Investigating Officer SI Abu Awal of Manu Police Station (now posted in Irani PS, Unakoti District) thoroughly investigated the case and submitted charge sheet which subsequently ended in conviction.
