Agartala, 16th April 2026 : Re-polling in four polling stations of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections concluded peacefully with a voter turnout of 86.83%. The counting of votes for all 28 seats is scheduled to take place on April 17 under strict security arrangements.
The initial polling held on April 12 recorded an 83% turnout. However, following reports of irregularities, the State Election Commission (SEC) ordered re-polling at four locations. These included two polling stations in the 10-Kulai–Champahaor (ST) constituency—Bhattimoydan S.B. School and Ramdeb Thakur Para S.B. School—one station at Hirapur S.B. School under the 17-Pekuarjala–Janmejayanagar (ST) constituency in Sepahijala district, and another at Nanda Kumar Para JB School in the 11-Maharani–Teliamura constituency.
According to SEC Secretary Anurag Sen, the re-poll began at 7 AM and ended at 4 PM without any untoward incidents. He confirmed that the process remained smooth and orderly throughout the day.
Preparations for counting have been finalized, with the process set to begin at 8 AM on April 17. Officials stated that VVPAT slip counting will start first, followed by EVM counting after a brief interval. The counting will be conducted across around 17 designated centers.
To maintain law and order, necessary directives have been issued to District Magistrates, including the implementation of Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Adequate security personnel have been deployed to ensure a peaceful counting process. While some political parties have requested the deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), no confirmation has been received so far. Authorities, however, have assured that all essential measures are in place to prevent any disturbances.
