Agartala, 19th January 2026: Agartala Government Dental College and IGM Hospital continues to provide advanced dental care for patients of all ages, offering specialized treatment for a wide range of oral and maxillofacial conditions.
Among its key departments, the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry has been at the forefront of improving children’s oral health using modern technology and specialized techniques.
The department has recently gained attention for its successful reimplantation of avulsed (knocked-out) teeth, particularly in children who experience dental trauma during accidents or play.
In one notable case, a 9-year-old child with borderline autism lost a front tooth. The child’s guardians brought the tooth, carefully wrapped in paper, to the hospital, where the department’s experts successfully reimplanted it following proper clinical procedures.
Similarly, two 10-year-old children who lost teeth while playing received prompt care at the hospital. In both cases, specialists from the Pedodontics Department successfully restored the teeth, highlighting the importance of immediate intervention.
Doctors emphasize that a knocked-out tooth has the best chance of successful reimplantation if it is brought to a dental specialist within 30 minutes. Until reaching the hospital, they advise preserving the tooth in saline solution, milk, or the patient’s saliva.
Several months after treatment, all the children involved are reported to be healthy and doing well. Families expressed their gratitude to the dedicated doctors and staff of Agartala Government Dental College & IGM Hospital for their prompt, skilled, and compassionate care.
The department’s work underscores the institution’s commitment to providing high-quality pediatric dental care and advancing oral health awareness among children and adolescents.
