Agartala, 29th April 2026: Continuous heavy rainfall has caused severe disruption along the Agartala–Khowai National Highway, leaving normal vehicular movement nearly paralyzed. Several stretches of the road have become waterlogged and muddy, making it extremely difficult for vehicles to pass.
According to reports, multiple sections of the highway have developed large potholes, which have turned increasingly dangerous due to accumulated rainwater. As a result, both small and heavy vehicles are facing significant challenges while navigating the route.
To manage the situation, local authorities have deployed dredging equipment to assist vehicles in crossing the most affected areas. Despite these efforts, traffic movement remains slow and chaotic.
Since early morning, hundreds of vehicles have been stranded on both ends of the highway. Passenger vehicles and goods-laden trucks have been particularly impacted, with many stuck for hours.
Commuters have expressed strong frustration over the situation, as they continue to endure long delays and uncertainty while stranded on the road. The administration is reportedly working to restore normal traffic flow, but the ongoing rain is complicating recovery efforts.
