Agartala, 14th September 2026 : Ganesh Puja festivities have expanded across Agartala this year, with the city witnessing a significant increase in the number of celebrations compared to 2025.
According to a senior police official, a total of 94 Ganesh Puja celebrations are being organised across six police station areas of Agartala under West District this year, compared to 68 celebrations in 2025.
The highest number of pujas is being organised under AD Nagar Police Station, where 30 celebrations are taking place. This is followed by West Agartala with 22, East Agartala with 18, New Capital Complex and Amtali with nine each, and Airport Police Station with six.
With the increase in the number of puja venues and expected movement of devotees, police have strengthened security arrangements across the city. Around 120 additional security personnel have been deployed at various locations, particularly in and around puja venues.
The police have also intensified vehicle checking and naka checking, while personnel are maintaining close surveillance to ensure that the celebrations pass off peacefully.
“Since the number of pujas has increased this year, additional police personnel have been deployed across Agartala city and around the puja venues. Regular vehicle and naka checking are also being conducted, and the overall situation is being closely monitored,” a senior police official said.
Meanwhile, no-entry restrictions have been imposed in parts of Agartala between 2 PM and midnight as part of the traffic and security management measures during the festivities.
Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha also inaugurated several Ganesh Puja celebrations across Agartala on Sunday, marking the beginning of the festivities in different parts of the city.
