A high-level coordination meeting was held with officials from the AMC, Smart City Mission, PWD, Power Department, TUDA, Tripura Police, Traffic Police, Jal Board, DWS, Forest Department and Fire and Emergency Services to review preparations and coordinate responsibilities ahead of the festival.
AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder said the capital is expected to witness a significant influx of visitors from different parts of the state during the Puja days, making coordinated preparations essential.
According to the Mayor, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has directed the concerned departments to ensure that roads across Agartala remain motorable and that ongoing road-related works are completed by *October 10*. The AMC and other departments have accordingly started taking measures to meet the deadline.
Power supply arrangements have also been placed on the priority list. The Power Department has been asked to coordinate with Puja committees and clubs to minimise disruptions and ensure adequate arrangements during the festival.
The PWD has been instructed to expedite its works while maintaining close coordination with other agencies so that ongoing projects do not create inconvenience for commuters and pedestrians during the Puja period.
Traffic management will be another major focus. The Traffic SP has been directed to formulate measures to prevent congestion and ensure smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians in busy parts of the city.
The AMC will also deploy additional manpower during the festival to strengthen civic services and assist with traffic and crowd management.
With thousands of residents and visitors expected to take to the streets during Durga Puja, authorities are aiming to complete major preparations well before the festivities begin and ensure that Agartala remains accessible, orderly and safe throughout the celebrations.
