Agriculture is lifeblood of nation and SHGs emerging as main driving force: Pranajit at PNB’s event

Agartala, 1st March 2025 :  Punjab National Bank (PNB) hosted an Agriculture Outreach Programme at the Town Hall in Agartala today with a special emphasis on Self Help Groups (SHGs). The event was inaugurated by Pranajit Singha Roy, Finance Minister of Tripura, alongside Ashok Chandra, GMD & MD and Rituraj Krishna, DGM, Circle Head, PNB, among other dignitaries.

“Agriculture is the lifeblood of our nation and Self Help Groups are emerging as the main driving force behind many success stories of our rural communities,” remarked Singha Roy during the inauguration. He added, “This outreach programme by PNB is a testament to their dedication towards uplifting the rural economy and ensuring that the fruits of progress reach every nook and corner of the country.”

The programme aimed to strengthen SHGs by providing them with knowledge, resources, and financial support to engage in agriculture and allied activities. “Punjab National Bank has always been committed to promoting sustainable farming practices and empowering our farmers,” stated Shri Ashok Chandra. “This initiative will enhance agricultural productivity and improve the livelihoods of those involved.”

During the event, 435 leads worth Rs. 26.12 crore were generated, and 54 cases were sanctioned, with sanction letters handed over to the beneficiaries. Local SHGs and farmers expressed gratitude for the support and opportunities provided by the bank.

One of the attendees, a local SHG member, shared, “This support from PNB is invaluable. It will help us achieve our goals and contribute to nation-building.”
