Agartala, 1st March 2025 : In an inspiring display of determination and ingenuity, a 25-year-old from Melaghar’s Poangbari area has built a helicopter from scratch. Diptanu Barman, son of daily wage laborer Manik Barman, embarked on this ambitious project despite financial constraints, driven by his childhood dream of becoming an engineer.
After completing his graduation and joining his father in labor work to support the family, Diptanu conceived the idea of constructing his own helicopter. Over several months, he meticulously gathered the necessary equipment using his hard-earned savings. Most of the technical work, including the installation of propellers and engines, has been completed.
While Diptanu’s project nears completion, he faces a financial hurdle. “If the government could offer a bit of support, I could finish the remaining work swiftly,” he told reporters, expressing hope for assistance.
Local residents have been flocking to Diptanu’s home, drawn by the sight of his homemade helicopter. The community eagerly anticipates the trial flight, which is expected to take place soon.
