Agartala, 3rd March 2025: Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday felicitated the first batch of farmers set to visit the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in New Delhi from March 3 to March 12. The initiative aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of farmers.
Speaking to reporters at Agartala Railway Station on Monday afternoon, Nath said, “This training programme will be held for ten batches of farmers from Tripura, the first batch of which will depart from Agartala Railway Station at 3:20 PM on 3rd March 2025 on Tejas-Rajdhani Express.”
“The training programme will expose the participating farmers to innovative agricultural technologies, improved crop varieties, agricultural machinery, precision farming, protected cultivation management, and climate-resilient farming techniques. The farmers will also get the opportunity to meet IARI scientists, visit research fields, and witness practical demonstrations. This initiative aims to improve their agricultural knowledge as part of various tools and human resource development programmes of the Tripura Government for the farmers,” he added.
Nath also mentioned that the Head of KVK, Dhalai Abhijit Debnath, will act as a coordinator for all the batches of farmers. This initiative is expected to bring significant benefits to the farming community of Tripura.
Advising the outgoing farmers, Nath said, “You people are going for training and not for seeing only. You people should question the trainers. For instance, new technologies are being used for agricultural purposes. You may ask in Hindi or English or Bengali. How to utilize the agricultural equipment? Gather knowledge on advanced and protective farming. What crops or vegetables can be cultivated in Tripura based on our climatic conditions? There are about 200 research institutes in India and Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi is one of the best institutes across the country. This is for the first time we are sending 20 farmers from different parts of the state.”
