All-India Handicrafts Week celebrated at Agartala

Agartala, 11th December 2025:   The Handicrafts Artists Association, West Tripura District Committee, organized the All-India Handicrafts Week celebration today with great enthusiasm and participation from distinguished artisans across the state. The event was held at the Tripura Government Employees Federation Conference Hall, located at Ujjayanta Market near Maharani Tulsibati Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Jackson Gate here today.

The program was graced by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar attended as the Chief Guest. Ratna Dutta, Chairperson of AMC Central Zone, and Samar Roy, Acting Chairman of Tripura Road Transport Corporation and social worker were present as Special Guests.

Renowned veteran artisan Subodh Chandra Roy and noted craftsman, cultural activist, and social worker Subhash Sutradhar addressed the gathering as Guest Speakers. The event was presided over by Pradip Kumar Roy, President of the Association’s Central Committee and a National Award-winning artisan. The welcome address was delivered by Tapan Das, Vice-President of the Association and also a National Award recipient in handicrafts.

In their speeches, the dignitaries highlighted the rich history of Tripura’s handicrafts and emphasized the need for collective efforts toward the overall development of the sector. They lauded the Association’s initiative in organizing the celebration and extended warm greetings and congratulations to artisans across the state on the occasion of All-India Handicrafts Week.

The vote of thanks was offered by Pradip Kumar Roy, State President of the Association. The program’s success was attributed to the dedicated efforts of the West Tripura District Committee, including Sanjay Das (President), Rakesh Mondal (Working President), Kajal Sutradhar (Secretary), Dilip Das (State Vice-President), Rajib Bhowmik (General Secretary), and Utpal Das (Treasurer), along with other office bearers and members of both the state and district committees.

The event concluded with heartfelt felicitations to all artisans and guests, marking a vibrant celebration of craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
