Allegations of commodity shortages at ration shops refuted; Association blames dealers

Date:

Agartala, 2nd June 2026:   . The Sadar AMC Committee of the Tripura Fair Price Shop Dealers’ Association has strongly refuted allegations of food shortages at ration shops, attributing the complaints to the negligence of certain dealers rather than systemic failure.

At a press conference held Tuesday, association leaders explained that delays in the delivery of food supplies occur because many dealers fail to deposit the required payments for their consignments on time. This, they argued, disrupts the supply chain and leads to temporary gaps in availability.

The committee further alleged that a vested interest group is deliberately spreading misleading propaganda to tarnish the image of the state government. They emphasized that the government is making every possible effort to ensure the smooth functioning of the ration system and assured that adequate stocks of rice, lentils, and sugar are currently available across ration shops in Tripura.

Prominent members present at the press briefing included Pradip Majumder (Vice President), Sajal Kumar Deb (Joint Secretary), and Anish Dey (Treasurer) of the Sadar AMC Committee, along with other association members.
