Agartala, 9th September 2025:   A disturbing case of alleged domestic abuse has emerged from the Gorurban area under Sonamura police station, where a woman has accused her husband of repeated physical and mental assault, fueled by substance abuse and false accusations.

The accused Ramu Das, son of Gopal Das has been married to Lipi Das of Charilam for the past 14 years. The couple has two children- a 13-year-old son and a 10-year-old daughter. According to Lipi Das, her husband has been subjecting her to regular abuse since their marriage, often under the influence of intoxicants. She claims that Ramu would fabricate baseless allegations and verbally harass her before resorting to physical violence, particularly during nighttime episodes.

Despite enduring years of mistreatment for the sake of her children, Lipi refrained from filing any formal complaint. However, the situation reportedly escalated on the night of September 8, when Ramu allegedly intensified his assault, prompting Lipi to finally speak out through the media.

“I never demanded a single rupee from him. I’ve been running the household with my earnings from a cooperative fabric store. Yet, peace has eluded me in this marriage,” Lipi told reporters.

She has now expressed her intent to pursue legal action against her husband, citing years of emotional and physical trauma. The case has sparked concern in the local community, with calls for swift investigation and support for the victim.
