Alleged Diversion of Government Construction Materials Triggers Controversy in Simna

Date:

Agartala, 15th August 2026: Allegations of irregularities and diversion of government construction materials have surfaced in connection with a multi-crore tourism project at Brahmakunda Shiv Bari in the Simna Assembly constituency under Mohanpur subdivision.

According to allegations raised by local Tipra Motha leaders, bricks meant for the government-funded tourism project were allegedly being transported and sold outside the construction site.

They claimed that several truckloads of bricks had allegedly been sent to private residences in Panchabati Bazar, Brahmakunda village and Brahmakunda Colony. After reportedly monitoring the situation for two days, Tipra Motha workers allegedly intercepted a truck loaded with bricks on Saturday.

The driver, Raja Banik, and site manager Kaushik Das allegedly admitted that the bricks were being sold outside the project site, according to the protesters.

Tipra Motha’s local leadership informed Sundartilla Police Station about the matter. Police subsequently reached the spot and reportedly found grounds for the complaint.

The allegations have raised questions over the monitoring of construction materials being used in the government tourism project. However, an official statement from the concerned department regarding the allegations was not immediately available.
