Agartala, July 22, 2023: In a bid to improve the aesthetics of the city and ensure pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, Agartala Municipal Corporation took decisive action against illegal street vendors in the Netaji Chowmuhani area. The initiative aimed to provide a clutter-free and hassle-free experience for the residents and visitors of the city.
In response to the demands and preferences of the locals, the development project is currently underway, and officials are actively working to remove unauthorized vendors who had been occupying the footpaths illegally for business purposes. The progressive effort to create a traffic-free environment and enhance the overall pedestrian experience is being diligently executed.
On Saturday, the Netaji Chowmuhani area witnessed the removal of several temporary stalls and vendors who were operating unlawfully on the sidewalks. The decision to clear the footpaths was communicated to the vendors in advance, however, some of them expressed discontent as they were not provided alternative spaces for conducting their businesses.
Despite the concerns raised by the vendors, the Agartala Municipal Corporation remains firm in its commitment to execute the project and improve the overall cityscape. Officials assure that further action will be taken against any remaining illegal stalls to create a more organized and aesthetically pleasing environment for the city’s residents and visitors.
