Agartala, June 03, 2023: Agartala Municipal Corporation’s Mayor Dipak Majumder on Saturday attended a bipartite interaction meeting at Comilla in Bangladesh on Saturday. The meeting was held between Agartala Municipal Corporation and Comilla City Corporation in Bangladesh.
Along with AMC Mayor Majumder, Comilla City Corporation Mayor Arfanol Haque Rifat along with officials and eminent personalities of both the countries were also present.
Expressing his interest to strengthen the cordial relation between Bangladesh and Tripura, Comilla City Corporation’s Mayor Arfanol Haque Rifat said that he and his people will make their utmost effort to develop the bilateral relationship between state’s people and Bangladesh through arrangement of Football and Cricket matches either at Comilla or Agartala.
He also requested the AMC Mayor for identifying certain places where freedom fighters were trained for constructing Liberation war-related signage like statues and martyrdom for the upcoming generations of people.
Agartala Municipal Corporation’s Mayor Majumder in his speech informed the meeting that he had already announced of installing a statue of “Bangabandhu” Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Agartala city.
Apart from this, Mayor Majumder also said that “Shaheed Minar” in the premises of Old Central Jail will be constructed with the funding by the government of Bangladesh and India. The spot has been identified in presence of Bangladesh’s Assistant High Commissioner in Agartala Arif Mohammad and others.
A statue of the Bangladesh’s father of the nation “Bangabandhu” Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be installed in the capital city of Tripura, Majumder said.
