Agartala, 15th July 2026: Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor and Ramnagar MLA Dipak Majumder has announced that he will use an electric scooter for his political outreach across the Ramnagar Assembly constituency, responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to promote electric vehicles and reduce dependence on petrol and diesel.
Speaking to reporters after purchasing the scooter, Majumder said the initiative was inspired by the Prime Minister’s call, which has also been echoed by Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. He noted that while the country is not facing any fuel crisis, global war-like situations have caused fuel shortages in some places, making it important to adopt sustainable transportation and conserve conventional fuel.
“The electric scooter is eco-friendly and contributes to environmental protection. At the same time, it will help me reach every corner of my constituency, especially the narrow lanes where cars cannot enter,” Majumder said.
He announced that from 8:00 am to 11:00 am every day, he would devote time to visiting residents in different wards of Ramnagar. Citizens can contact him through the Mandal President, Booth Presidents or directly, and he promised to respond to calls irrespective of religion, community or political affiliation.
“It does not matter whether someone supports the BJP, CPM, Congress or Trinamool. They are residents of my constituency, and I will visit them, listen to their concerns and try to resolve their problems,” he said.
Majumder also said he plans to visit clubs and social organisations in the evenings to interact with local residents and understand public issues. Clarifying the purpose of the scooter, he said it would be used exclusively for political and public outreach, while the government vehicle allotted to him would continue to be used only for official municipal and government duties.
The Mayor said the outreach programme will begin the day after tomorrow, adding that his objective is to reach every ward, lane and neighbourhood in Ramnagar while promoting environmentally friendly transportation.
