Agartala, 8th March 2025 : The Meteorological Department has reported a significant decrease in rainfall for April this year compared to the same period last year. While the normal rainfall for April is 198.8 mm, this year, only 130.3 mm was recorded—a decline of 33%.
According to the department, the highest rainfall in April this year was recorded in West Tripura district, with Arundhutinagar experiencing the maximum precipitation within a 24-hour period. Additionally, district-wise data for August indicates that Khowai district received 200 mm of rainfall.
The department also noted that last year, Tripura experienced heavy rainfall on April 6, 21, and 28. This drop in rainfall could have implications for agriculture and water resources in the region, prompting further analysis by meteorologists.
