Agartala, 8th March 2025 : The Durlav Narayan HS School, operating under the Vidya Jyoti Project, is grappling with a severe shortage of teachers, forcing school authorities to rely on nannies for classroom instruction. Parents have raised serious concerns about the future of their children’s education and are demanding immediate intervention from the State Education Department.
According to sources, the school, which has 153 students, is being managed by only five teachers—one of whom is physically disabled. The remaining four teachers are struggling to maintain academic standards under extreme pressure. The headmaster of the school admitted that the shortage of teachers has persisted for a long time, saying, “We have been facing this issue for a while now, and the situation has not improved despite repeated appeals.”
Adding to the school’s woes, the infrastructure is in poor condition, with students forced to endure classes in the scorching heat due to inadequate electricity. “Our children are suffering every day in this unbearable heat, but there’s no proper electricity supply,” complained a frustrated parent.
The desperate situation has led parents to question who will take responsibility if their children’s education suffers irreparable damage. “If the students fail to receive quality education, who will be held accountable? We need an immediate solution,” said another concerned parent.
