Agartala, August 13, 2022: Tripura Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha on Saturday hoisted the 30.5 metres height national flag in an island in front of the entrance of Civil Secretariat here in presence of ministers NC Debbarma, Manoj Kanti Deb, MLA Dr Dilip Das, Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder and senior bureaucrats of state administration.
Thereafter, Dr Saha also launched a month-long program for protection of environment and creating awareness with the joint initiative of Forest department and ARPAN Society along with the support of ONGC, Tripura Asset. PCCF KS Shetty, ONGC Tripura Support Manager Parmananda Sinha, Chief Manager Pankaj Roy Mandal, ARPAN Society secretary Dr Biswendu Bhattacharjee and others were also present.
Along with month-long programme of mega tree plantation drive, a ‘Run for Green Tripura’ from New Capital Complex premises to Ujjayanta Palace’s entrance was flagged off by the Chief Minister.Addressing the gathering, Dr Saha praised the government and private organizations for increasing awareness on protection of environment as well as planting of trees in huge numbers to protect the mother-nature for future generations.
“Such an initiative ahead of Independence Day celebration plays a pivotal role in fulfilling the commitment made by the Government of India to control the emission of harmful global warming gases to prevent climate change”, he added.
