Assam Rifles seized 143 Kgs of cannabis at Sonamura

Agartala, April 29: As part of the Assam Rifles massive crackdown on narcotics and drugs abuse in the state, Agartala battalion of Assam Rifles seized 143 Kgs of cannabis worth Rs 54.34 lakh hidden in a jungle in Sonamura, Sepahijala district on Saturday.

Based on the input received from a reliable source of a large quantity of illegal processed cannabis hidden in a forest area of Sonamura. A team of Agartala Battalion of Assam Rifles with representatives of Sonamura police station launched a swift operation in which 143 kgs of cannabis could be seized after thorough search of the forest area.

The cost of the seized cannabis is estimated to be of Rs 54.34 lakhs as per state police in Indian market. The seized cannabis has been handed over to Sonamura police station and a general FIR has been registered by the police station.
