Assembly Eelction 2023:  6 candidates won with less than 500 votes margin

Agartala: March 16. In the recently held Assembly election 6 winners have won with margin of victory of less than 500 votes while 5 winners have won with more than 40% margin of victory.

A press statement shared by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) have analysed the vote share for the all 60 constituencies in the Tripura Assembly Elections, 2023.

In the press statement they have said that the winners of the Tripura State Assembly elections, 2023 won by an average of 48 % of total votes polled. In the 2018 elections winners won by an average of 53 % of total votes polled. “23(38%) winners won with 50% and above of the total votes polled in their constituency while 37(62%) winners won with less than 50% of the total votes polled in their constituency. 7 out of 16 winners with declared criminal cases have won with a vote share of 50% and above and 10 out of 21 crorepati winners have won with a vote share of 50% and above”, the press release reads.

It further informed that 6 winners have won with a margin of victory of less than 500 votes and 5 winners have won with more than 40% margin of victory.

Around 12 out of 16 winners with declared criminal cases have won against a runner up with a clean background. Among these 12 winners, 6 winners have won with more than 10% margin of victory. Ranjit Debbarma (Tipra Motha Party) from Ramchandraghat (ST) Constituency won with 43% margin of victory. 

Among the Crorepati Winners 16 out of 21 crorepati winners have won against a non-crorepati runners up.

Among these 16 winners, 2 winners have won with more than 40 % margin of victory. Among these, Animesh Debbarma (Tipra Motha Party) from Asharambari (ST) constituency won with 51% margin of victory.

Among the 60 winners, 9 are women and among these 9 women winners, 3 women winners have won with more than 10% margin of victory. Among the women winners, Swapna Debbarma (Tipra Motha Party) from Mandai Bazar (ST) Constituency has won with the highest vote share, i.e. 66% in her constituency and 50% margin of victory.
