Agartala, 24th March 2025: A brutal attack was carried out on a CPI(M) street meeting at Jaipur in the peripheries of the capital city. The incident left eight individuals seriously injured including CPI(M) West District Committee Secretary Ratan Das and Sadar Sub-Divisional Committee Secretary Subhasish Ganguly along with other leaders and supporters.
CPI(M) has alleged that the West Agartala police station has yet to arrest any culprits involved in the attack. Losing faith in the local police, a CPI(M) delegation approached the West Tripura District Superintendent of Police, Dr. Kiran Kumar today. The delegation demanded swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice and impose strict penalties.
Speaking to the media, CPI(M) leader Krishna Rakshit explained that the street meeting at Rajnagar was organized to highlight pressing public issues and draw government attention. However, during the meeting, miscreants allegedly affiliated with the ruling party launched an attack on CPI(M) leaders and supporters. Rakshit directly accused Amitabh Bhattacharya, the president of the Ramnagar Mandal of staging the attack.
Among the injured, eight individuals are reportedly being considered for advanced medical treatment outside the state. The CPI(M) delegation has submitted a deputation to the District Superintendent of Police, demanding appropriate punishment for those involved.
