Attempted murder and robbery allegation at Bishalgarh: Friend accused of betrayal

Date:

Agartala, 21st April 2026:  A shocking case of alleged attempted murder and robbery has surfaced in Tripura, where a man claims he was brutally assaulted and robbed by three youths, including a close friend.

According to the complaint, Roni Mia of Harihardula under Madhupur police station was traveling to his in-laws’ house on Monday evening. After buying fruits at Bishalgarh market, he contacted his friend Akash from Ghaniamara. Roni reportedly intended to go to his in-laws’ place with Akash, but instead, Akash allegedly conspired with two others, Rajju and Joynal.

The trio allegedly lured Roni to a secluded area near Arbindranagar School, where they beat him severely. Roni stated that the attackers intended to kill him and leave him in the jungle. They allegedly snatched Rs 50,000 in cash and a heavy gold chain weighing more than one “bhuri” (local weight measure), tore his clothes, and assaulted him with sticks, causing serious injuries to his legs and waist.

While Roni was trapped in the jungle, his father called him, informing that his sister had sent another Rs 20,000. The accused allegedly forced him onto a bike and took him toward Bishalgarh to seize that money as well. However, Roni managed to escape by jumping off the bike and sought refuge at Bishalgarh police station.

Later that night, he filed cases against the accused at both Bishalgarh and Madhupur police stations. Roni further alleged that the mastermind behind the attack was Titu Ahmed of Ghaniamara, who had provided full support to the assailants.

The incident has sparked concern in the locality, with residents pointing to a rise in thefts, robberies, and armed miscreant activity. Roni has demanded strict punishment for the accused, warning that unchecked crime could escalate further in the region.
