Agartala, 6th July 2024: To curb the use of single-use plastic and ensure fair pricing for essential goods the Ambassa Sub-divisional administration led by the DCM Samiran Roy conducted a joint raid with the Ambassa Municipal Council today. The raid targeted various shops at the Ambassa Bazar area.
This initiative marked the administration’s commitment to protecting consumer rights. DCM Roy explained that monthly raids are a regular practice across markets in the Sub-division.
“We are confiscating single-use plastic wherever we find it and shopkeepers are being penalized for non-compliance,” he said.
The raid also addressed concerns regarding inflated prices for essential commodities like potatoes and onions. Roy informed that the administration is actively investigating such reports.
“We are closely monitoring shops to ensure prices of everyday essentials including potatoes and onions remain stable,” he added.
The strategic timing of the raid on the Ambassa’s weekly market day aimed for maximum impact. The public expressed optimism that these efforts will deter market vendors from malpractices and contribute to price stabilization for essential goods.
