Agartala, 7th September 2025 : Tension prevailed along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Kailashahar on Sunday afternoon after a group of Bangladeshi nationals allegedly crossed into Indian territory and attacked locals as well as BSF personnel with bricks, stones, and glass bottles.
According to local sources, around 10–12 Bangladeshi citizens entered Indian territory near the crematorium area of Kailashahar municipality while collecting wood floating in the Manu River. At the time, several local residents were present at the crematorium for a last rites ceremony.
When the intruders were stopped by locals and confronted by BSF jawans, the situation quickly escalated. The miscreants began pelting stones, bricks, and bottles, triggering panic in the area.
Senior BSF officials, along with personnel of the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB), rushed to the spot. With administrative intervention, the situation was eventually brought under control.
The incident has sparked concerns among residents, who allege that Bangladeshi nationals frequently cross into Indian territory under the pretext of fishing or collecting firewood. The latest confrontation has once again raised serious questions about security along the sensitive border.
