Agartala, 12th January 2025: Former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb launched a scathing attack on the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPIM], dubbing them as “fuse bulbs” and “extinguished candles” incapable of staging a political comeback in Tripura.
Addressing an event in Agartala on Sunday, Deb criticized the CPIM for their lack of opportunities for the youth, claiming that their leadership style sidelines young talent.
“There is no space for young people in communist ideology. According to them, unless you grow white hair, you cannot achieve greatness. However, in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), even someone without hair can become the Chief Minister,” he quipped.
He further emphasized the BJP’s focus on empowering the youth. “In the BJP, you can become an MLA at the age of 27 and even the Chief Minister by 35. But if you align with the communists, you might only get an MLA ticket when you’re 70,” Deb remarked.
Drawing a comparison between BJP’s youth-oriented approach and CPIM’s leadership, Deb took a jibe at veteran leader and Politburo member Manik Sarkar. “What can Manik Sarkar do for the youth? History has shown that communist leaders exploit the younger generation rather than supporting them. This is why the BJP prioritizes the energy and potential of young people, as the nation has great expectations from them,” he said. Deb also criticized the decades-long communist rule in Tripura, accusing them of hindering the state’s progress. “Tripura’s misfortune was the 35 years of communist rule. If the BJP had strengthened its presence earlier, the communists wouldn’t have dominated for so long,” he asserted.
In his sharpest critique, Deb said, “The communists and their youth wing, DYFI, are like fuse bulbs and extinguished candles. No matter how hard they try, their light will never shine again in Tripura.”
The MP concluded by highlighting the transformative role of the BJP in Tripura, urging young people to join the party for better opportunities and a brighter future.
