BJP Delegation Visits Asarambari, Demands End to Regional Party Politics

Agartala, 30th July 2025:  A delegation of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), comprising ministers, MLAs, and members of District Councils, today visited the Asarambari Assembly Constituency in Tripura’s Khowai district following an alleged attack on BJP workers by Tipra Motha Party (TMP) supporters during the Mann Ki Baat program on Sunday.

Addressing the media, senior BJP leader Rampada Jamatia alleged that a group of former CPI(M) workers, who had recently joined the Tipra Motha Party after the BJP came to power, launched an unprovoked attack during the live broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly address.

“We and the Centre must take this seriously. Back in 2018, we allied with the IPFT, and even then, there were violent incidents in the name of Greater Tipraland. Now, the same pattern is emerging with the Tipra Motha Party,” Jamatia said. “We want an end to such regional provocations and insist that these demands must be reconsidered. Tribal communities attacking each other is deeply concerning. The Prime Minister and Union Home Minister need to intervene and restore peace.”

Jamatia said the delegation’s visit aimed to meet the injured workers and reassure them of the party’s full support. He also pointed fingers at TMP minister and MLA Animesh Debbarma, claiming that his supporters were involved in the attack.

“We have received credible information about the involvement of his supporters in Sunday’s violence. We will apprise the Chief Minister of the details and demand strict legal action,” he added.

Tripura Social Welfare and Tribal Welfare Minister Santana Chakma, who was part of the delegation, condemned the incident, noting that several BJP karyakartas remain hospitalized.

“The attack was sudden and deliberate, carried out during a peaceful Mann Ki Baat event. We want to send a clear and strong message to those behind this incident — such violence will not be tolerated. We believe in peace and will respond democratically to any unrest,” she said.
