Agartala, 18th June 2024: Tripura BJP is gearing up to contest the upcoming three-tier Panchayat elections, with a focus on winning in all booths where the party fell short in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
In a press conference this evening, BJP Chief Spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty detailed the party’s preparations. Over the past two days, Tripura BJP has conducted a series of meetings to review the Lok Sabha election results, plan for the Panchayat polls, and discuss directives from the Central BJP office.
“Yesterday’s meeting was chaired by BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, and State General Secretary (Organization) for Assam and Tripura, Ravindra Raju, alongside state ministers and MLAs. Today, we held another meeting with all district presidents, Mandal Presidents, Morcha leaders, and office bearers. The leaders have congratulated and appreciated the efforts of all party workers across the state,” Chakraborty stated.
Highlighting their Lok Sabha victories, Chakraborty noted that BJP candidates Biplab Kumar Deb and Kriti Devi Debbarma won with over 6 lakh and 4 lakh votes respectively, while by-election candidate Dipak Majumder also secured a win.
“These victories demonstrate the dedication and unity of our party workers, from the grassroots level up. The BJP president called for victories in all booths, and we achieved this in almost all cases. In the West Parliamentary Constituency, out of 1695 booths, BJP won in 1671. Similarly, in the East Parliamentary Constituency, out of 1663 booths, BJP won in 1599. BJP national president JP Nadda and national general secretary (organization) B L Santosh expressed their satisfaction and happiness with the Tripura BJP leaders and workers during a virtual meeting,” he reported.
Chakraborty also mentioned that the party held a brainstorming session regarding the Panchayat Poll, scheduled for late July or early August.
“In this meeting, we concentrated on the booths where we did not win, setting a target to secure victories in those areas. We conducted a detailed discussion to identify agendas, loopholes, and weaknesses. BJP has already started addressing these. We are prepared to contest the Panchayat poll, aiming to bring opposition supporters into the BJP fold and have initiated various activities to this end,” he added.
