Agartala, 16th November 2025: The Sadar Sub Divisional Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has filed a formal complaint with the NCCPS police in Agartala, alleging criminal intimidation by a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader.
The complaint, addressed to the Officer-in-Charge and dated November 16, 2025, stems from an event on the afternoon of November 14.
According to the CPI(M), BJP leaders and supporters of the Barjala Mandal organized a rally and ‘Patha Sabha’ at Natunnagar Co-operative, opposite the Barjala Mandal BJP party office, to celebrate the NDA alliance’s victory in the Bihar State Assembly elections.
The CPI(M) has named Tinku Brata Das, Secretary of the Barjala Mandal Committee, as the individual who, during this gathering, “directly threatened to kill the CPI(M) supporters and destroy the life and adulthood of the CPI(M).”
In the official letter, CPI(M) Secretary Amal Chakraborty stated that this “utter threat in the open daylight” has left party supporters feeling insecure and living in “fear and mental agony.” The party contends that such statements amount to “criminal intimidation and criminal abetment to invite violence” and could encourage physical assaults, thereby deteriorating the law-and-order situation in the state.
The CPI(M) has urged the police to take immediate legal action against Tinku Brata Das and to provide essential security to its party supporters on a “top most priority basis.”
As evidence, the party has submitted a copy of a video footage of the alleged incident, providing a link to the content on a social media platform.
A copy of the complaint has also been forwarded to the Superintendent of Police, West Tripura District, for necessary action.
The police are yet to issue an official statement regarding the receipt of the complaint or any prospective action.
