Agartala, 15th November 2025: The District & Sessions Judge of Khowai, Khowai District, today pronounced judgement in a rape case, convicting and sentencing one person to 20 years of Rigorous Imprisonment.
The convicted individual, Samir Kuri @ Samiran, son of Babul Kuri of Indiranagar Colony, Ramchandraghat, was found guilty in SPL (POCSO) Case No. 11/2019. The case arose from Khowai Police Station Case No. 74/2019, which involved charges under U/S 366 (A) IPC, Section 376 IPC, and Section 04 of the POCSO Act.
The Ld. Court sentenced Kuri to 20 years of Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 50,000 for the offence punishable under Section 376(2)(n) of the IPC and Section 6 of the POCSO Act. In default of paying the fine, he will have to undergo an additional five months of Simple Imprisonment.
According to a press release from the Office of the Director General of Police, the case was investigated by WSI Kamala Rani Murasingh of Khowai Police Station, who submitted the chargesheet after a thorough investigation. The Ld. Court found the accused guilty based on the evidence presented during the trial and sentenced him accordingly.
