Agartala, 1st April 2026:  With the upcoming Dharmanagar Assembly by-election in focus, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a massive show of strength on Wednesday through a women-centric rally titled “Shakti Swaroopa Ashirvad Yatra.” The event, held at the Vivekananda Sardha Shatabarshiki Bhavan, drew an overwhelming crowd, with more than a thousand women participating spontaneously — a turnout that political observers believe carries significant electoral weight.

The high-profile gathering was marked by the presence of several senior leaders who sought to energize party workers: Sudhangshu Das, Minister; Kalyani Roy, Chief Whip of the Assembly; Mithilesh Kumar Tiwari, Bihar MLA and election in-charge for Dharmanagar and ADC polls; Jahar Chakraborty, BJP’s candidate for Dharmanagar; Rupali Adhikari, North District Mahila Morcha President; Shyamal Nath, Mandal President, along with other district and state leaders.

Speakers emphasized that women’s strength would be the decisive factor in securing victory. They highlighted the government’s achievements in development and reiterated BJP’s commitment to women’s empowerment and safety. Drawing on cultural and spiritual references, leaders likened women’s role in the election to the divine force in mythology that vanquished evil.

The rally spotlighted milestones such as the election of Droupadi Murmu as India’s first tribal woman President, Nirmala Sitharaman’s leadership as Union Finance Minister, the passage of the long-awaited Women’s Reservation Bill, and Kalyani Roy’s continued role as Chief Whip in Tripura Assembly.

These, speakers argued, underscored BJP’s belief in giving women genuine respect and responsibility.

Discussions also focused on how welfare schemes from both central and state governments are empowering women at the grassroots, fostering self-reliance under the Antyodaya vision.

Analysts noted that the massive turnout demonstrated BJP’s success in consolidating the women’s vote bank in Dharmanagar. The enthusiasm and sheer scale of participation, they suggested, could pose a formidable challenge to opposition parties in the upcoming polls.

At the close of the rally, women attendees pledged their support to BJP candidate Jahar Chakraborty, vowing to ensure his victory with a decisive mandate.

Far beyond a routine political meeting, Wednesday’s Shakti Swaroopa Ashirvad Yatra is being viewed as a strategic masterstroke by the BJP — a calculated move to dominate the electoral field ahead of the Dharmanagar by-election.C
