Agartala, 1st August 2025 : Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) submitted a formal deputation to the Panchayat Secretary of Ichhapur Gram Panchayat located in the Gournagar block of Kailasahar this evening. The deputation outlined an 11-point set of demands concerning local development, transparency and welfare.
Prior to the submission, BJP workers led a protest march from the Ichhapur market area that culminated at the panchayat office. A street-corner meeting was held at Ichhapur market following the event, drawing participation from party workers and local residents.
The program was spearheaded by BJP Mandal President Pritam Ghosh, joined by Mandal General Secretary Prashanta Dey, Secretary Asadur Jaman Rafi, and elected BJP Panchayat members alongside other party leaders.
Among the major demands were: Ensuring selection of genuine beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, irrespective of party affiliations; Swift completion of pending development works within the panchayat jurisdiction; and Transparency and timely wages under the MGNREGA employment scheme.
Responding to the deputation, the Panchayat Secretary acknowledged the legitimacy of most concerns, stating, “These issues are valid and I will try to bring them to the attention of higher authorities.”
Addressing the street meeting, BJP Mandal President Pritam Ghosh remarked, “This deputation is about securing the rightful claims of the people. We are duty-bound to amplify their voice. Development should not be colored by party lines, and we’ve conveyed this in our memorandum to the panchayat secretary. We hope the administration will act promptly.”
