Agartala: Basix Krishi Samruddhi Limited (BKSL), a national organization dedicated to agri-based livelihood promotion, conducted a specialized training program on “Modern Technologies of Horticulture” at Lila Deb Memorial Hall near Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Mini Stadium in Charilam, Sepahijala district, Tripura.
The program, held on April 18, was organized with the support of the Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Dimapur, Nagaland, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. The initiative aims to equip farmers with advanced skills in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), sustainable farming, value addition at the local level, and strategies for accessing alternative markets for better price realization.
A total of 50 farmers from Poangbari, Nalchar, and Charilam Blocks participated in the event, formulating action plans to implement new techniques in their cultivation practices. These farmers primarily grow paddy, turmeric, pineapple, orange, banana, and seasonal vegetables. Additionally, five Farmers Producer Companies (FPOs) are assisting them in aggregating their produce for bulk sales.
The training is expected to enhance productivity and improve price realization, contributing to the broader goal of achieving Sustainable Development Goals in the agricultural sector.
