Agartala, Nov 28: The NSS Unit of the ICFAI University Tripura has organized a Blood Donation Camp on Tuesday in collaboration with HDFC Bank. Honourable Director General of Police of Tripura, Amitabh Ranjan, IPS has inaugurated the program as Chief Guest along with the other dignitaries of the University like Dr. A Ranganath, Registrar, Dr. Subhasish Chatterjee, Academic Dean, Dr. P Rana Borthakur, Dean, Faculty of Science & Technology and Deputy Vice President Amrut Mishra & Sajal Das, Assistant Vice President of HDFC Bank.
The Staff, Students & Faculty members from various departments of the University and NSS Unit of the University have participated in the voluntary Blood Donation Camp and donated blood. Donated Bloods were collected by Blood Bank of G B Hospital & IGM Hospital Agartala.
After inaugurating the camp, Amitabh Ranjan witnessed a short drama performed by the students of the University on Blood Donation. Later he had given a motivational speech before the audiences for importance of donating blood. He explained about the country’s high demand for blood transfusions, which currently occurs every two seconds. The country requires an annual average of 14.6 million blood units, and consistently faces a shortfall of 1 million units. To address this critical issue, such campaign of blood donation activities is required.
He also unfolds the “All India Blood Donation Camp Booklet 2023 of HDFC Bank. He expressed his cordial thanks to ICFAI and HDFC for organizing the camp.
A total of 124 students, faculty members and staff of the University was donated blood on that day. The Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. (Dr.) Biplab Halder expressed his heartiest thanks to all the students, faculty members and employees for engaging themselves in such voluntary work.
