Blood donation is not ordinary charity, it is gift of life: Sudhangshu at Unakoti BJYM’s event

Agartala, 13^th September 2026 :  As part of the nationwide “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan” and “Seva Saptah” being observed ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Unakoti district, organised a blood donation camp at Fatikroy Market on Sunday.

SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das attended the programme as the chief guest. District and Mandal-level BJYM leaders, party workers and a large number of local youths participated in the camp, with many voluntarily donating blood.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Das described blood donation as one of the noblest forms of service to humanity. He said that while society witnesses various forms of charity such as donations of food, clothes, money and land, most of these provide temporary relief. “Blood donation is not an ordinary act; it is equivalent to donating life itself. Through donated blood, critically ill patients can be saved,” he said.

The minister stated that the BJP is observing Seva Saptah to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service, including nearly 13 years as Chief Minister of Gujarat and over a decade as Prime Minister. Various welfare and service-oriented programmes are being organised across the country, with blood donation camps emerging as a major initiative.

Praising the participation of youths, Das said that in an increasingly self-centred society, young people stepping forward to save the lives of others reflects generosity and noble values.

Highlighting the importance of voluntary blood donation, the minister said that despite remarkable advancements in science and technology, including artificial intelligence, space missions and modern defence capabilities, no country in the world has yet succeeded in producing artificial blood. “Even today, one human being can save another only through blood donation. Therefore, maintaining an adequate blood supply depends entirely on the spirit of voluntary donors,” he added.

He thanked BJYM workers and all donors for contributing to the humanitarian cause.
