Agartala, 31st October 2025: A devastating fire broke out late last night in Tripura’s Padmapur area under Dharmanagar subdivision, reducing a Bolero vehicle and goods worth approximately Rs 6 lakh to ashes.
Local sources informed that the blaze erupted around 9 PM at a warehouse adjacent to Tripureshwari School on Madhu Bari Link Road. The warehouse owned by Sridam Das, was being used by local businessman Rupun Pal, son of Dilip Pal to store packaged biscuits for commercial distribution. A Bolero vehicle belonging to Das was parked nearby.
The fire quickly engulfed both the warehouse and the vehicle. Firefighters responded promptly, initially dispatching a smaller unit before reinforcing with a second engine. Together, the two fire tenders managed to bring the flames under control.
Rupun Pal’s brother confirmed that the warehouse contained biscuit stock valued at nearly Rs 6 lakh, all of which was destroyed in the fire.
Sources revealed that Sidam Das is currently serving as a constable with Tripura Police, posted at Kanchanpur. The Bolero vehicle lost in the fire was reportedly worth over Rs 18 lakh.
The same warehouse had previously been linked to the illegal storage of banned Burmese cigarettes. Das’ name had surfaced multiple times in connection with the contraband trade while he was stationed at Panisagar police station. Following the seizure of the illicit cigarettes from the warehouse, he was transferred to Kanchanpur.
The exact cause of last night’s fire remains unknown. Police have launched an investigation.
