Boy Arrested for Killing Puppy in Teliamura, to be Produced Before Court

Agartala, 15th March 2025: The Tripura Police have arrested Bador Jamatia, a youth from Teliamura, for brutally killing a puppy and sharing the disturbing video on social media. The incident, which occurred in the Khowai district, has sparked outrage among the public, animal rights activists, and social media users.

Officer-in-Charge of Teliamura Police Station, Rajib Debnath, confirmed the arrest, stating that multiple FIRs had been lodged against Jamatia for the gruesome act. “Following the FIRs, we launched an investigation to apprehend the accused. After three days of rigorous efforts, we succeeded in arresting him today. He will be produced before the court tomorrow,” Debnath said.

The viral video of the cruel act triggered widespread resentment, prompting calls for swift justice. Responding to the outcry, Tripura’s Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD) Minister, Sudhangshu Das, strongly condemned the act and directed the police to take immediate action against the accused.

Two animal rescue NGOs, Pawsome and K-Nine, filed General Diary (GD) entries at different police stations, urging authorities to arrest Jamatia without delay. Additionally, royal scion and Tipra Motha founder, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, also lodged a complaint and called for prompt action against the perpetrator.The case has intensified discussions on animal cruelty laws and the need for stricter enforcement to prevent such incidents in the future.
