BSF Foils Drug Trafficking Attempt in Sonamura Border Area

Date:

BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 18th September 2025: The Border Security Force (BSF) has once again thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs in the border areas of Sonamura subdivision. Today morning, personnel of the 49th Battalion arrested a woman and recovered 2,000 yaba tablets at Gate No. 178, Boxanagar West Para.

The arrested woman has been identified as 32-year-old Rabia Khatun. Acting on a tip-off about a planned drug smuggling operation across the border, the BSF conducted a search and seized the large consignment of yaba tablets from her possession.

According to BSF sources, the seized drugs primarily belonged to a notorious local trafficker, Monir Hossain, who resides in central Boxanagar. Intelligence reports indicate that Monir has been involved in yaba and other drug trafficking activities for a long time.

Following the arrest, Rabia Khatun was handed over to the Kalmachowra police station, and the police have launched an investigation into the case.

Local sources noted that recently drug trafficking networks have been using women to carry out smuggling operations with new tactics. The border area witnesses frequent clashes and pursuits between the BSF and traffickers almost every day.

The key question now is how far the police can trace the trafficking network based on Rabia Khatun’s confession and the information recovered during the operation.
