BSF shots youth at Boxanagar

Agartala, 24th June 2025:   Tension gripped the Boxanagar area late last night after a local youth was reportedly shot and injured by the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel near Gate No. 179 of the India-Bangladesh border.

According to official sources, the incident took place around 10 pm when BSF jawans from the Boxanagar Border Outpost (BOP) intercepted 27-year-old Rezaul Hossain, a resident of Ward No. 6 in Boxanagar village. Hossain, whose father Abul Hossain is deceased was allegedly attempting to smuggle clothing and other illicit goods across the border.

During the interception, BSF personnel reportedly opened fire, injuring Hossain. He was first rushed to the Boxanagar Community Health Centre, where doctors referred him to GBP Hospital in Agartala for advanced treatment. Eyewitnesses stated that multiple bullet wounds were visible on his back.
