BSF Tripura seizes drugs worth Rs 41 Cr, detained 632 persons for border related crimes in 2023

Agartala, 1st January 2023:   The Border Security Force (BSF) deployed in along with the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura, have seized narcotics and other smuggling items worth Rs 41 crore and arrested 112 Rohingya and 632 Indian and Bangladeshi nationals for their engagement with border related crimes in 2023.

A press release from BSF Tripura have informed that BSF Tripura Frontier has achieved several milestones during the preceding year of 2023.

“During the year 2023, the BSF troops of Tripura Frontier have maintained extremely high levels of surveillance and alertness. BSF has successfully rescued 1,980 Cattle heads and seized contraband items like Phensedyl 2,02,535 Bottles, Ganja 16,750.18 Kgs, Yaba tablets 98,003 Nos, Gold 3.998 kg, Silver 289.78 gms, Brown Sugar 1185.465 Grams, Arms/ Ammunition, Bangladeshi Currency 1,07,17,980/- Taka and miscellaneous items worth ₹ 41,82,23,177/- and also apprehended 112 Rohingya Illegal Migrants (RIMs), 337 Bangladeshi nationals and 295 Indian in different operations”, the press release reads.

It also reads that in close coordination with state and central agencies 20,12,400 Ganja saplings, being grown illegally on 1,007 acres in the state of Tripura, were destroyed by uprooting or burning  in  joint operations.

“BSF being a border guarding force also looks after the populace residing in bordering areas and for their well-being, conducts various Civic Action Programs, which include Free Medical Camps, Cataract operation, skill development training,  Sports tournaments, Cultural activities”, it reads.

It further said that the IG BSF – Region Commanders BGB level Border Coordination Conference was held at Chattogram, Bangladesh in the month of September 2023.

“During the conference, bilateral issues were discussed for better coordination  between both the Border Guarding Forces for well being of population residing in the border area, thereby  paved the way for maintaining ties between two friendly nation”, it added.
