Candidates break down after being barred from Joint Entrance Exam

Date:

Agartala, 22nd April 2026:  Agartala witnessed tension today during the Tripura Joint Entrance Examination at Boys’ Bodhjung Higher Secondary School center, where 8 to 10 candidates were allegedly denied entry despite arriving on time. The incident left several students in tears, while a section of parents staged a protest outside the venue.

Candidates claimed they reached the center within the scheduled time but were barred due to entry complications. In contrast, the center authorities maintained that once the stipulated reporting time had passed, no further entry could be permitted under examination rules.

Board Chairman Dr. Shubhadip Pal, who inspected multiple centers, acknowledged that a few candidates were denied entry for arriving late. He emphasized that the rules clearly prohibit entry beyond the fixed schedule and reiterated that students had been instructed to reach well in advance. Dr. Pal also noted that overall, the examination was conducted smoothly and peacefully, with satisfactory attendance across centers.

Authorities confirmed that while the incident caused temporary unrest, the situation was brought under control. The examination statewide proceeded under strict security and adherence to regulations. However, the episode has sparked fresh concerns over exam management and its impact on students’ futures.
