Cattle smuggling intercepted near Battala Jahar Bridge, police investigate

Agartala, 6th June 2025:   Local youths intercepted a vehicle allegedly transporting cattle under questionable conditions near Battala Jahar Bridge earlier this afternoon. Reports indicate that two cattle were found inside the vehicle without any provision for food or water, raising concerns about their welfare.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the youths questioned the driver and co-driver, who claimed the cattle were being transported in connection with Eid-ul-Adha. Suspecting potential smuggling, the youths immediately alerted the West Agartala police station.

Responding swiftly, police arrived at the scene and took custody of the vehicle and the cattle, identifying the vehicle with registration number 02D1848. The case is currently under investigation as authorities seek further details regarding the transport and ownership of the animals.
