Agartala, 24th August 2026 : The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field Office, Agartala, under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, organised a two-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) at Tripura University on Monday, focusing on the themes of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Census 2027, and 12 Years of Trust, Development and Public Welfare.
Prof. Samir Kumar Sil, Registrar of Tripura University, inaugurated the exhibition as the Chief Guest. Subhash Dutta, ADM & Collector (PP), Sepahijala; Prof. Indraneel Bhowmik, Proctor, Tripura University; and Dr. Vanlalmuana Darlong, Deputy Registrar, Tripura University, were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Sil appreciated the CBC initiative and said the university welcomed awareness programmes that benefit students and society. Stressing the need for a drug-free campus, he urged students to maintain zero tolerance towards substance abuse and remain focused on their studies and career goals. He encouraged the students with the message, “where there is a will, there is always a way.”
Dutta, speaking as Guest of Honour, highlighted the importance of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Census 2027 and 12 Years of Trust, Development and Public Welfare. He urged students to understand the damaging effects of drug abuse and play an active role in building a healthy and responsible society.
Prof. Bhowmik also appealed to students to stay away from drugs and concentrate on education and their future.
An exhibition highlighting the three major themes was organised during the second session. Dr. Sindhu Poudyal, Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy, and Dr. Shouvik Bhattacharya, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, explained the themes and interacted with the students. An open quiz competition was also conducted, with prizes distributed among the winners.
The third session featured a cultural programme presented by Saptarshi Kala Kendra, a private registered troupe from Karimganj, Assam. Students of Tripura University also participated by presenting songs.
Research scholars and students from the departments of Journalism and Mass Communication, Philosophy, Political Science, History, Sanskrit, Linguistics & Tribal Languages, Physical Education and Liberal Arts actively participated in the programme.
