Agartala, 24th May 2024: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Puneet Agarwal visited North Tripura district today to inspect and review preparations for the upcoming vote counting for the Tripura East (ST) parliamentary constituency elections.
Sources confirmed that the review meeting was held in the video conference hall of the District Magistrate’s office in North Tripura district. CEO Puneet Agarwal presided over the meeting, which was attended by District Election Officer and District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan, Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty, Additional District Magistrate Biplab Das, Additional District Magistrate Subhash Chandra Saha, Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shyamjoy Jamatia, and other officials.
During the meeting, CEO Puneet Agarwal emphasized the importance of the proper completion of vote counting. He stressed that all activities related to vote counting should proceed according to plan. He also highlighted the need for stringent security measures, the enforcement of various restrictions, and the smooth completion of the vote counting process on the designated day.
The CEO discussed the necessity of ensuring patrolling and area dominance by security personnel. He emphasized that Section 144 should be enforced within a 100-meter radius of the counting center. Other directives included managing traffic control and ensuring an uninterrupted power supply to the counting center. Additionally, provisions for videography of the counting process were mandated.
District Election Officer Debapriya Bardhan informed that various preparations had been undertaken in the district to ensure the proper execution of the vote counting. The first phase of training for enumerators has been completed, and meetings with representatives of political parties in each sub-division of the district have been held.
CEO Puneet Agarwal also visited the strong room, counting center, and CCTV camera monitoring room at Bir Bikram Institution in Dharmanagar. Furthermore, he inspected the strong room and counting center of the Panisagar Assembly Constituency located at the Panisagar Panchayat Samiti office. During his visits, he interacted with the concerned officials to discuss and review the preparations for the strong rooms and the vote counting process.
