Agartala, 10th September 2026 : A chanachur vendor was allegedly left destitute after miscreants broke into his stall at a fair near Agartala’s Jagannath Temple during Janmashtami and stole goods and utensils overnight.
The vendor had invested his limited capital in stock and essential utensils, hoping to earn from the festive rush. He found the theft when he arrived at the stall the following morning and informed local residents.
The vendor subsequently reported the matter to Agartala West Police Station. He alleged that no visible action had been taken so far to recover the stolen items or identify the culprits.
The incident has raised concerns over security arrangements for temporary stalls, with traders demanding better night-time surveillance and patrols. The vendor has sought an immediate investigation and recovery of his belongings.
