Chief Minister Takes Firm Stand on Khowai Violence, Promises Strong Law and Order Measures

Agartala, 21st April 2026:  Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on a visit to Khowai district met families affected by recent incidents of violence and assured strict government action to restore peace and security in the region.

During his visit, the Chief Minister reviewed the situation on the ground and interacted with displaced residents staying in relief camps. He noted that following the declaration of the TTAADC elections on April 17, incidents of arson, assault, and unrest were reported in several areas, creating a tense environment.

Describing the situation as deeply concerning, Dr. Saha said that violence has repeatedly affected the region over the years and stressed the need for decisive steps to prevent further escalation. He assured that the government is committed to ensuring the safety of every citizen and will provide full support to those who have suffered losses.

The Chief Minister also confirmed that financial assistance for affected families has already been announced and further support measures are being considered. He said maintaining law and order remains a top priority and reiterated that strict action will be taken against those responsible for disturbing peace.

He further stated that a high-level review meeting with the Director General of Police and Chief Secretary will be held to assess the situation and strengthen security arrangements. According to him, police action has already begun, and more arrests will follow as part of the crackdown on offenders.

Officials including DGP Anurag, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, senior BJP leaders, and MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.
